I am overwhelmed by the volume of
actions to take away a woman’s right to plan her future, manage her
economic opportunities, and choose when, how, and with whom she has
children, and if she puts her life in danger. It is a threatening
and frightening time to be woman of child-bearing age.
“The first is a bill requiring the
use of trans-vaginal ultrasound prior to a woman obtaining an
abortion …”
“But let's start calling this what it
really is: state sanctioned rape.
In Virginia, rape
is defined as the following:§ 18.2-61. Rape.
A. If any person has sexual intercourse with a complaining witness, whether or not his or her spouse, or causes a complaining witness, whether or not his or her spouse, to engage in sexual intercourse with any other person and such act is accomplished (i) against the complaining witness's will, by force, threat or intimidation of or against the complaining witness or another person; or (ii) through the use of the complaining witness's mental incapacity or physical helplessness; or (iii) with a child under age 13 as the victim, he or she shall be guilty of rape.”
2. Rep. Darrell Issa reasons that
when taking away a woman’s right to health care that includes her
vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes, women have no right to be
included in hearings on the matter.
“This morning, Democrats tore into
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) for
preventing women from testifying before a hearing examining the Obama
administration’s new regulation requiring employers and insurers to
provide contraception coverage to their employees. Republicans oppose
the administration’s rule and have sponsored legislation that would
allow employers to limit the availability of birth control to women.

3. Only sluts need contraceptives.
4. Oklahoma women may soon no longer have the right to determine their futures and when they risk their lives.
5. What kind of
sex you can have should really be outlined by a church, not
determined by consenting adults.
“That’s the perfect way that a
sexual union should happen. We take any part of that out, we diminish
the act. And if you can take one part out that’s not for purposes
of procreation, that’s not one of the reasons, then you diminish
this very special bond between men and women, so why can’t you take
other parts of that out? And all of a sudden, it becomes
deconstructed to the point where it’s simply pleasure. And that’s
certainly a part of it–and it’s an important part of it, don’t
get me wrong–but there’s a lot of things we do for pleasure, and
this is special, and it needs to be seen as special. Again, I know
most presidents don’t talk about those things, and maybe people
don’t want us to talk about those things, but I think it’s
important that you are who you are. I’m not running for preacher.
6. GOP wants employers to decide
what a person should or should not do in bed.
“Today, the Senate will
hold a vote on a Republican substitute introduced
by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), which would allow any and all insurers
and employers to deny their employees health benefits and services
required by federal law based on their personal religious or moral
objections. The measure has 37
co-sponsors — including the GOP leadership, women Republican
Senators Lisa Murkowski (AK), Kay Bailey Hutchison (TX), Kelly Ayotte
(NH), Democrat Ben Nelson (NE), and Republican Scott Brown (MA).
Brown has supported expansive conscience protections for religious
organizations throughout his legislative career, but voted
for a tougher contraception mandate as a Massachusetts state
representative in 2002 and approved of a law requiring all hospitals
— including Catholic institutions — to provide emergency
contraception to rape victims in 2005.”
7. Santorum proves he is out of
touch in a whole new way. He thinks $1,200 is no big financial
burden.
“[I]nterestingly
enough, here is what they are forcing them to do -- in
an insurance policy, they or forcing them to pay for something that
costs just a few dollars. Is that what insurance is for?
The foundational idea that we have the government tells you that you
have to pay for everything as a business. Things
that are not really things you need insurance for, and still forcing
on something that is not a critical economic need,
when you have an economic distress, where you would need insurance.
But forcing them even more to do it for minor expenses.”
8. The GOP wants to widen the circle
of people who get a say in a person’s health care to include
employers.
“Despite Obama’s
decision to shield nonprofit religious institutions from offering
birth control benefits, Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) is pushing an amendment
that would permit any employer or insurance plan to exclude any
health service, no matter how essential, from coverage if they
morally object to it...”
9. This completely honest video
posits that Planned Parenthood wants to make sex addicts of children
so they will have to continue to use their services. It made my
brain hurt but is no less scary for the stupid.
Heroes:
Just a little good news.
"A woman's right to choose is
under attack as much as it's ever been, and that's a terrible and
dangerous thing for this country. I don't usually get soap box-y with
this, but the thing about Buffy is all she's going through is what
women go through, and what nobody making a speech, holding up a
placard, or making a movie is willing to say," said Whedon
in Entertainment Weekly.
"I'm pleased to announce today
that if Newt Gingrich can speak for all Catholics, I'm going to start
speaking for all tall people," Gutierrez said. "That's
right: 5-foot-6 Congressman Luis Gutierrez, President of the National
Association of Extremely Tall Americans."
