Valentine’s Day can make the fattest
wallet as skinny as mid 60’s Twiggy, but there is no reason why a
great Valentine’s Day has to leave a lover financially bulimic.
Valentine’s Day is about making your partner feel special and to
celebrate romance, neither of which has to be about spending wads of
cash. The trick to a happy, budget-friendly Valentine’s Day is to
do things that are always cost effective and always romantic.
Mix and match the ideas below, or
follow them all and have a incredible, sensuous Valentine’s Day
that your partner will never know was budget friendly.
Start to Set the Mood a Couple of
Days in Advance
Making Valentine’s Day the crescendo
of days of building romance will blow the socks off any
romance-seeking lover and it does not have to be expensive.
A couple of days before Valentine’s
Day, write a few short, meaningful, and maybe a bit sexy, love
letters on paper hearts. Leave one out the first day, two the next,
and so on. Hang them using ribbon or fishing line from the ceiling
right outside your partner’s bedroom. If you do not live together,
ask her roommate for help or hang them from her door way or put them
on her car.
If writing a love letter seems a bit
cliché, try romantic pictures, a painting, or hanging a flower. The
bold romantic might do them all.
Make Chocolate-Dipped Fruit
There is nothing quite like having your
lovers fingers in your mouth and getting the added bonus of plump,
juicy fruit with the sweet bitterness of chocolate to follow. On
Valentine’s Day or the day before dip fruit slices in chocolate.
Apples, bananas, strawberries, and oranges work especially well.
They taste best when done the day they are to be eaten. Save any
extra chocolate, you will need it for later.
Warm Oil Massage With Hot Rocks
Before Dinner
Nothing says romance like pampering and
nothing makes a person feel pampered like a massage. Hot rocks are
soothing, relaxing, and shows real attention to detail. Warm oil
helps relax the muscles and is incredibly sensual. Most importantly,
remember, a massage is not a race. It should feel like it lasts
forever.
Make sure to keep the oil and the rocks
warm, not hot. If you cannot stick your hand in the oil, or put the
rock on your forearm without discomfort, it is too hot. Be wise, do
not turn your burner up past its first setting before you test it.
Test the oil and the rocks on yourself before you put it on your
partner. If the oil is boiling, or smoking it is way to hot; leave it alone for at least an hour before you try to test it.* If
the water that you put the rocks in is boiling, it is too hot. Spend
an hour or so online learning how to give a massage, how to make sure
you warm the oil, and rocks safely. You can use olive (no reason to
use extra-virgin, the slutty kind will do) or vegetable oil. Avoid
peanut unless your beloved has a thing for the smell of that
particular legume.
If you are worried about making the oil
to hot, you can always buy a massage oil candle. They are
inexpensive, ranging from $4 to $25. After you light the candle, the
wax melts into massage oil at just the right temperate.
Soothing music is free and helpful to
create a mood of tranquility and serenity. It also helps if the room
where you are giving the massage is clean. Put the oil in a metal
bowl and put that bowl on a hot pad or hot water bottle to keep it
warm.
It might be tempting to make the
massage sexual, but avoid that impulse. Avoiding sexual activity
(like oral sex or penetration) will help build passion for the rest
of the night. You are not their massage therapist though, so massage
the parts no reputable massage therapist would ever touch.
You can buy a few sheets at a thrift
store for just a couple of dollars to keep your normal sheets stain
free. Make sure to get three for on the bed and one for over your
partner. Pick up a couple of towels while you are at it.
When the massage is over, tell your
partner to relax there for a few minutes, give your lover a glass of
water with a cucumber slice or a lemon wedge. Place a small bowl of
fruit, a towel, and a bathrobe next to your partner while you give
them a moment to recover.
Prepare a Warm Bath After the
Massage
After the amazing massage, your partner
will feel like putty, but slippery putty. Draw a warm bath with
bubbles and light a few candles. Put on soothing music, or a
romantic audio book. Once the bath is ready, help your partner from
the bed, into the bath but only after some incredibly passionate
kisses.
Prepare the Bedroom
If your Valentine’s Day will end in
bed, now is the time to prepare. While your lover washes away the
oil from the massage and becomes human gelatin, go back to the
bedroom and remake the bed. Use one of your new thrift store sheets,
it is going to get messy again. Put out candles and set out your hot
water bottle or hot pad. Lay out the chocolate covered fruit.
Make Dinner
Food is a primal way to express
emotion. This is where you will need to know your lover. Don’t
make it too heavy though or make it take too long. You are aiming to
keep the energy up, add taste to the senses tickled, and express
love. You do not want to make them pass out from a gut busting
dinner or bloat them so they do not feel sexy anymore.
Give your partner a chance to change if
they would like before you sit down to eat.
If you need some time to digest, put on
a romantic movie like Dirty Dancing, The Notebook, Pretty Woman,
Ghost, or 50 First Dates. If you are going to rent a movie, make
sure to bring a list of movies with you, and get there early. Most
of the well known romantic movies will be hot items on Valentine’s
Day.
Preparing for the Climax
Near the end of dinner or near the end
of the movie, excuse yourself to put hot water in your hot water
bottle or to turn on your hot pad. Make sure the hot pad or the hot
water bottle is next to the bed. Light the candles and do any last
minute straightening of the bed.
Painting Chocolate
Nothing is quite as sexy as hot
chocolate and exploring each others’ bodies with your tongues. Ask
for your partner’s patience as you make them a special dessert.
Rewarm the chocolate and put it in a bowl. Take a spoon, the bowl, a
very soft paint brush or a basting brush, and your partner to the
bedroom. Make sure to put the bowl on the hot pad or water bottle to
give yourself some time to play.
After testing the chocolate for
temperature on your forearm or inner thigh, it is time to move on to
the climax of your Valentine’s Day. Starting in the most innocent
of spots, like finger tips or knees, paint your partner with
chocolate and lick it off. Slowly work your way to more erotic
locations on the body at a pace that your partner enjoys. Let your
partner paint you or themselves. Shy away from painting yourself and
demanding a lick. An ill-placed chocolate path can ruin the mood.
Where Valentine’s Day goes from there I will leave up to your imagination, but the cost of this Valentine’s Day plan will be completely realistic. You can save even more by using what you already have in the house, including oil, paint or basting brushes, ribbon, and paper.

*Don't be an idiot. Be careful with warm oil. If you can't do it safely, don't do it. Seriously, don't be a dumb ass. Hot oil has been used to kill people. Be safe. I am not responsible for any injury from this article and you hold me harmless when you try.
